Two weeks left to nominate amazing residents, organizations for a Civic & Community Award

Kelowna is brimming with extraordinary people – and now is the time to recognize them! Help celebrate the contributions of Kelowna’s outstanding individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations by submitting a nomination for a Civic & Community Award. The nomination deadline is only two weeks away, Friday, Feb. 10.

“The Civic Awards are nothing short of inspiring each year,” said Craig Campbell, Civic & Community Awards Coordinator. “Kelowna is full of truly incredible people who make our community brighter through volunteerism, athletics, arts and good business practices. We want to hear about the people and organizations that inspire you so we can celebrate them for their valuable contributions to our city.”

Civic & Community Award nomination categories for 2022 include:

  • Sarah Donalda Treadgold & Fred Macklin Memorial Award – Citizen of the Year
  • Champion for the Environment
  • Corporate Community of the Year
  • Honour in the Arts
  • Teen Honour in the Arts
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Bob Giordano Memorial Award – Volunteer Coach or Sport Administrator of the Year
  • Central Okanagan Foundation - Volunteer Organization of the Year
  • Male & Female Athlete of the Year
  • Bryan Couling Memorial Award – Athletic Team of the Year

All three finalists for the Young Citizen of the Year Award will receive a Dillon Thomas Budd & Payton Leigh Budd Youth Scholarship, providing funding towards post-secondary goals. This award's recipient will receive $2,000 and the remaining finalists $1,000.

The recipient for Teen Honour in the Arts will also receive a $500 entrance scholarship to UBC Okanagan, sponsored by the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies.

The 2022 Civic & Community Awards will be celebrated at an evening gala on Thursday, April 20 at the Laurel Packinghouse. Nominations forms are due by Feb. 10.
