Canada Day fireworks show cancelled

July 1, 2023

Due to an active wildfire in Knox Mountain Park near downtown Kelowna, the Festivals Kelowna Fireworks show planned for 10pm this evening (July 1) has been cancelled. The park remains closed.

Fire crews continue to work in the area and ask that the public please stay away from the area.

Other community festivities along Kelowna’s waterfront will continue into the evening.

“We are disappointed we are not able to produce our annual fireworks event but the safety of first responders, firefighters and affected residents is paramount,” says Renata Mills, executive director of Festivals Kelowna. “In the community spirit of Canada Day, our hearts are with all those who are helping protect our community and those affected by today’s fire.”

Decisions about whether the fireworks show will be rescheduled will be determined in the coming weeks.
