The forecast is calling for 10-15 centimetres of snow beginning Tuesdaynight. Over the last three days crews have resupplied their sand shed andpre-treated their roads in anticipation. 

A snow event advisory has been issued and a temporary parking ban is nowin effect for snow routes located in Academy Way, Black Mountain, Clifton/MagicEstates/Wilden, Dilworth Mountain, Kirschner Mountain, McKinley Beach, QuailRidge and areas in the South Mission, including The Ponds. Residents parked onthe street will have over 24 hours to find alternative off-street parking beforeenforcement commences.  “Residents are asked to be patient as crews will be focusing on clearingroadways and laying sand on priority one and two routes before attending tolocal roads in neighbourhoods,” said Roadways Operations Manager AndrewSchwerdtfeger. “Residents not living on a snow route are still encouraged tomove their vehicles off the road to help plows clear the snow from curb to curbsafely and quickly.”  The City clears snow and de-ices municipal roads based on their priority status.Priority 1 includes high-traffic roads such as Gordon Drive. Priority 2 includescollector roads such as Richter Street, bus routes, school zones and emergencyvehicle stations. Priority 3 and 4 roads include residential roadways. 

Highway 97 (Harvey Avenue) and Highway 33 are maintained by theProvincial Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. Check out the onlinemap to find out a road’s priority status at kelowna.ca/snow.  Residents and business owners are reminded that they are responsible forclearing the snow off sidewalks adjacent to their property. Some residents findsnow clearing difficult, particularly seniors and those with an injury ordisability. The City encourages residents to help their neighbours wherepossible.
