In 2020, Council reviewed a 3 year plan to rehabilitate the landslide issue above Knox Mountain Metals and below residential developments on Royal View Avenue. In 2020, a consultant team was engaged to design both an interim and long term solution for repairing the slope failure and mitigate safety issues below. 
In the fall of 2022,specialized contractor, Geostabilization International was engaged to complete the necessary stabilization and repairs of the failed slopes. 
Repair work to include:

  • Earthworks - Regrading of over-steepened and previously failed slopes to design elevations.
  • Installation of grout injected, hollow steel bar soil nails into the stable underlying soils. 
  • Interconnection of the soil nails with high-tensile strength steel mesh  
  • Restoration and naturalization of the finished reinforced slopes.
